Desert & Delta Safaris believes in sustainable, environmentally and socially conscious tourism and offers unique wildlife, nature and cultural experiences.

Desert & Delta's lodges are small and exclusive, and some of them are located in private concession areas only accessed in their own vehicles or aircraft.

Most of Desert & Delta's properties accommodate a maximum of between 16 and 24 people. The largest property, Chobe Game Lodge, is the only permanent lodge built within the Chobe National Park and has 46 rooms – a superb property for a management conference with a difference or an incentive group.

Despite the remote locations of the lodges, all the rooms (and in some cases tents), have the comforts one would expect from a modern hotel -en suite bathrooms, walk in showers, flush toilets, and in some of the properties, air conditioned rooms and where air conditioning is not available, overhead fans. Desert & Delta's aim is to make your stay as comfortable as possible so such amenities as tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms and hair dryers are provided for. Each lodge is very different and they are able to offer a choice of tented or brick and thatch accommodation depending on your preference.

Most of Desert & Delta's lodges rely on generator power and 12-volt batteries for lighting at night, but in some cases there is permanent power via underground cables. Whatever the case, the chances are that you won’t even notice!

Travel between lodges

Part of the excitement of visiting Desert & Delta Safaris Lodges, is the getting around! A fully integrated private air charter service is on offer, operated by their subsidiary company Safari Air*, which operates single engined Airvan’s, Cessna 206’s, 207’s, 210’s, Cessna Caravans & twin engined Britten Norman Islander aircraft. Some of thelodges have their own private airstrips.

"Unless a private charter is requested, your flight transfers have been booked on a "seat on plane" basis. Flight times are arranged according to each day's requirements and to fit in with activities, thus the plane may pick up and drop off other guests en-route to your destination. Times therefore vary from day to day and will be communicated to you the afternoon before departure. Flights to Kasane for the Chobe lodges and for Victoria Falls/Livingstone depart early to meet the scheduled road transfers; so early morning activities for guests departing on these flights are curtailed. Should you wish, private charters can be arranged, in which case you will be the only guests in the plane and you may specify your departure times."

For the water-based lodges in the Delta and the Chobe areas, private powerboats are used for transfers. In fact Desert & Delta is the only safari company in Botswana to offer such a service for travel between lodges enabling for you to have a truly unique experience.

The Safari vehicles at the lodges are either open Toyota Land cruisers carrying a maximum of 7 people or Landrover game viewing vehicles carrying a maximum of 9 people. All Land cruisers have individual buckets seats while the Landrover have bench seats. Each vehicle has a removable canvas roof enabling for shade and ample storage space for cameras, binoculars etc.

For guests staying at Chobe Savanna Lodge, please note that the Namibian Border closes at 16:00 and all guests arriving off scheduled flights into Livingstone or Victoria Falls and transferring to Chobe Savanna Lodge, should therefore arrive no later than 13:00.

Included in the accommodation rates are all game activities (whether they be by vehicle, on foot, in a mokoro or a power boat), meals (buffet breakfasts/lunches and al la carte dinners), drinks with meals (soft drinks, local wines and beer), national park fees, laundry and medical evacuation insurance.
