Ruckomechi Camp

If you're looking for total luxury and a bush experience combined, then you need to look at one of the lodges. On the Ume River outside of Matusadona National Park we recommend Musango and Kipling's. On the eastern boundary we recommend Sanyati Lodge. On the lower Zambezi, you'll find Ruckomechi, Chikwenya and Mwambashi River Lodge.

Kipling's Lodge

Kipling's is on the Ume with a great view into Matusadona National Park. Kipling's is one of the "Legends of Africa" properties. The accommodation is first class, the cuisine is comparable with that at the best hotels in Zimbabwe, the service is excellent. Professional Guides will take you into Matusadona on short walks, game drives or boat trips. The western side of Matusadona is renowned for its Black Rhino population and there is no shortage of the rest of the Big Five in the area.

Sanyati Lodge

Sanyati Lodge is on the eastern boundary of Matusadona near the Sanyati Gorge entrance. This is a luxury safari lodge in the truest sense of the word. We consider it to be the best property on the lakeshore: the service at Sanyati Lodge is outstanding, the lodge itself is in a class of its own in terms of accommodation and creature comforts. Sanyati Lodge is ideally suited for honeymooners. An attractive option is to fly in on the Float Plane.

In Mana Pools, Ruckomechi and Chikwenya are the two lodges located within the National Park. Ruckomechi was voted best lodge in Zimbabwe for three years running - this is another "Legends of Africa" property. In combination with Ruckomechi, a canoe safari on the Zambezi River is a very popular 4 day combination.

Access to Mana Pools is either by vehicle (a four hour drive, half of which is on bad dirt roads) or private air charter. Matusadona is accessible by boat (approximately an hour across Lake Kariba), floatplane or private air charter.
