COMMON NAME Cheetah SCIENTIFIC NAME Acinonyx jubatus (Schreber, 1775) Cheetah's method of hunting is a fast and short chase in which Cheetahs reach speeds on excess of 100 kilometers per hour, reason why they prefer the open woodland, savanna and plains. At a kill Cheetah's eat very quickly always on the alert to other predators mainly Lion, Hyena and Leopard to which they normally loose their prey. Cheetahs hunt mostly in early morning and late afternoon and they normally not active at night. The Picture on the left was taken in the Kruger National park, between Tshokwane picnic spot and Satara Camp. |
